Car window film is a functional coating applied to vehicle windows or the vehicle's paint surface, primarily falling into two categories:
1. Automotive solar films (Window Tint/Solar Films): Applied to vehicle windows, these films provide heat insulation, impact resistance, UV protection, and reduced glare. The base material is typically polyester (PET); the technology has evolved through five generations – ranging from dyeing and metallic reflection to heat absorption, nano-ceramic coatings, and intelligent spectral selection (magnetron sputtering).
2. Paint Protection Film (PPF): Applied to the vehicle's paint surface, commonly known as "invisible car coating." Its main functions include scratch resistance, corrosion protection, self-healing of scratches, and enhanced gloss. The primary material used is TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane); some high-end products feature pearlescent or matte coatings to alter the visual appearance.
